About
I have a passion for software engineering and have been active in video game development since my high school days, when I started low-level programming on 8 and 16-bit platforms. Turning what started as a fun hobby into a paid job while going to school, I managed to land contract jobs with game studios in Germany, working on everything from sound and graphics programming to music composition.
I decided to become a full-time game developer in 1992 and over the years I held engineering and leadership-related positions at a number of leading developers, including LucasArts, Electronic Arts and Zynga. A reasonably complete list of titles I worked on can be found at MobyGames.
In 2013, I co-founded Blue Crystal Labs, a start-up focusing on social casino games in the mobile space. As CTO, I designed, implemented and deployed the backend infrastructure in support of the studio's first game, Simon's Slots.
I joined Amazon Web Services in 2017 to lead the development of managed cloud-based services for game developers.
